The Dictionary of the Catalan Language from the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (DIEC) serves as the authoritative reference for establishing lexical norms within the Catalan language. Since its publication in April 2007, the second edition of the DIEC (DIEC2) has undergone multiple updates. Through this application, the Institut provides users with the complete and most current version of the work, which periodically incorporates approved amendments.

THE INSTITUT D’ESTUDIS CATALANS

The Institut d'Estudis Catalans is an academic, scientific, and cultural corporation focused on high-level scientific research, primarily concerning all elements of Catalan culture. The institution's official language is Catalan, and its officially recognized scope of action extends to regions of Catalan language and culture. Its role as a language academy was formally acknowledged in 1991 by Law 8/1991 of May 3rd, which designates the Institut as responsible for establishing and updating the linguistic regulations of Catalan.
